Premier League Fixture List Season 2012-2013

19 June 2012

One of the most prestigious of European football trophies, the Premier League title already looks to be a two-horse race for 2012-13. Champions Manchester City are expected to spend heavily and, together with arch rivals Manchester United, are likely to be the two most fancied sides when the season begins. Champions League winners Chelsea have lost talismanic striker Didier Drogba, but may still be title dark horses if Fernando Torres finds consistency.

Arsenal will have a stronger attack in 2012-13, as long as they can hang on to prize asset Robin van Persie. Defensively, the Gunners still look vulnerable and a Champions League place looks their best bet again for success. Both Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool will have new managers in place, after Harry Redknapp at Spurs and Kenny Dalglish at Anfield couldn't ensure Champions League qualification. Newcastle's buys were the best value for money in 2011-12, and it'll be interesting to see if they can improve yet further.

At the bottom end of the table, Norwich City and Swansea City may struggle this term, after losing prized managers Brendan Rodgers and Paul Lambert respectively. Of the promoted sides, West Ham United seems the best equipped, but Reading and Southampton may struggle without strengthening their squads significantly.

Champions Man City begin the defence of their title at home to Premier League new boys Southampton on August 18th. As early as September 22nd, there are two massive fixtures that may have a huge bearing on the Premier League title, when Liverpool are at home to Manchester United, and Manchester City play Arsenal on home soil. On the 8th of December, City entertain Manchester United at home. The return fixture on April 6th may prove decisive in determining who are the champions of 2013.

The fixtures on the final day of the Premier League season, on May 19th, sees Man City at home to Norwich City. Similarly to last season, when City dramatically defeated Queens Park Rangers, they may be playing hosts to a team potentially battling to avoid relegation.
